RESEARCH MEETS EXPLORATION
As the official AUV team of MIT Manipal, we take great pride in our work. Our team is dedicated to designing and constructing top-of-the-line underwater vehicles, including ROVs and AUVs. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this field and are excited to continue our work in the
years to come.
Vision
To pioneer innovation in underwater exploration and research through the development of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs, ROVs) that push the boundaries of technology and capability.
Mission
Our mission is to design, build, and operate cutting-edge AUVs, ROVs that excel in efficiency, reliability, and adaptability, empowering students to collaborate, learn, and lead in the field of marine robotics while addressing real-world challenges in ocean exploration and conservation.
Competition
Our team is actively preparing for SAUVC 2027 (Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge), one of Asia’s premier underwater robotics competitions. Through innovative design, rigorous testing, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to develop a highly capable AUV that can successfully tackle complex autonomous underwater missions and represent MIT Manipal on an international stage.
Subsystems
01
Artificial Intelligence
Develops the AUV’s autonomy, perception, and decision-making capabilities. Members work with ROS 2, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, NVIDIA Jetson, and simulation tools to create intelligent underwater navigation systems.
04
Research
Explores emerging technologies and innovative solutions for underwater robotics. Members analyze research papers, conduct experiments, validate concepts, and contribute to advancements in autonomy, sensing, communication, and vehicle design.
02
Electrical
Designs and integrates the AUV’s electronic systems, including power, sensors, communication, and controls. Members gain experience in PCB design, embedded systems, telemetry, sensor interfacing, and hardware integration.
05
Management
Manages sponsorships, outreach, recruitment, branding, and project coordination. Members develop skills in marketing, industry relations, content creation, event planning, teamwork, leadership, and organizational management.
03
Mechanical
Designs and develops the AUV’s structure, ensuring strength, efficiency, and hydrodynamic performance. Members use SolidWorks, Fusion 360, ANSYS, and MATLAB for design, simulation, analysis, manufacturing, and testing.
